What occupational therapy works on

1

Fine Motor Grove

Pinching, gripping, drawing, cutting, buttoning — the tiny hand skills behind independence, self-expression, and every school day.

🐾

Sensory Meadow

Some kids feel the world at full volume. OT helps them understand their sensory needs and build strategies so the world feels manageable — not overwhelming.

2🌈
🐾
3🫶

Big Feelings Lookout

Recognizing emotions, riding them out, coming back to calm — the skills that turn meltdown moments into recoverable ones.

🐾

Everyday Springs

Dressing, feeding, toileting, sleep routines — the victories that give children dignity and give parents their mornings back.

4👕
🐾
5🎒

School-Ready Ridge

Circle time, pencil grip, transitions, routines — the quiet skills that help school start well and stay good.

🐾

Balance Bluffs

Core strength, coordination, body awareness — the physical foundation under nearly everything else on this map.

6⚖️
The clearing · feel it yourself

What "sensory overload" actually feels like.

For some kids, an ordinary classroom arrives at full blast — lights humming, chairs scraping, tags itching, all at once. Slide the world's volume up. Then bring it back down. That relief you feel? That's what OT builds the skills to find.

🏫 ✏️ 💡 🧒 🎒 a calm, ordinary morning
manageableoverwhelming

OT doesn't mute a child's world. It hands them the dials — movement breaks, calming strategies, environments that fit — so they're in charge of the volume.

The picnic table · why small is huge

The everyday victories list.

Tap each one you'd celebrate.

Zipped their own coat — at five years old
Wore the new shirt — tag and all
Held the crayon and signed their masterpiece
Sat through circle time — the whole thing
Big feeling arrived… and got ridden out
🎉 that's a Super Bowl. every single one.
Ranger signs

Questions along the trail.

🪧How do I know if my child needs OT?
Daily tasks staying hard long after peers manage them, strong reactions to textures/sounds/movement, avoiding fine-motor play, exhausting transitions, big self-care struggles. A proper evaluation gives a real answer — asking costs nothing.
🤸What's a sensory gym?
A room built for movement — swings, climbing, crash pads, tactile play — where regulation and strength get built through play. One is planned for our Oak Creek space. It's the room we're most excited to photograph finished.
🌊Can OT really help with meltdowns?
Often, yes — especially when meltdowns have sensory or regulation roots. OT won't erase big feelings (nothing should — feelings aren't the enemy), but it builds the skills to ride them out, plus strategies for you in between.
🧩Is OT only for autistic kids?
No — OT helps children with many different needs. Here it lives alongside our autism-focused services; our founding clinical team will define the full scope of who we can serve.
🗓️When can we start? Insurance?
Oak Creek, 2027 — team being assembled now. Insurance plan: Wisconsin Medicaid (ForwardHealth) + major commercial; credentialing underway, confirmed list published as contracts land. Today: hello@fathomnorth.com.
